Daniel McKinley

Natural Resources Specialist

Dan McKinley is a Natural Resources Specialist with over 30 years of experience with the U.S. Forest Service with an emphasis on aquatic habitat.   He received his B.S. in Biology from Stockton State College in New Jersey and his M.S. in Zoology from the University of Maine.  His work on five National Forests has taken him to Colorado, Montana, New Hampshire, New York, and Verrmont.  From 1991 to 2010 he was stationed on the Rochester Ranger District in Rochester, VT serving as a Zone Fisheries Biologist before stepping into the Forest’s Fisheries Program Manager role.


In 2018 Dan became the Natural Resources Staff Officer for the Green Mountain & Finger Lakes National Forests overseeing aquatic, botanical, soil, wildlife, fire and timber programs.


The things he is most proud of, aside from his family, are the partnerships and relationships he has had the honor of growing and supporting while serving with the US Forest Service.


Dan and his family make their home in Rochester, Vermont, along the banks of the White River.  He is blessed with an incredible wife, Margaret, and two awesome adult children, Liam and Jorah.  His 9 siblings and 52 nieces are strewn up and down the east cost from Florida to Maine.
