Michael Fernandez

Battenkill County Conservation District Manager

Growing up in South Florida, I always had a paddle or a fishing pole in my hands. Exploring the lakes and rivers of my home inspired a lifelong passion for preserving and protecting the natural world. After leaving home, I chased my passion west. I attended and graduated from Oregon State University's College of Forestry in 2019 where I worked with my community to restore degraded salmon habitat and educate the public about the value of enacting conservation practices through my work with the Oregon State Extension Service. Soon, though, I would be called to the North Country to pursue new opportunities to create a positive impact on the lands and waters of my adopted home.

Why I love the Battenkill:

I love the peace and tranquility I find on the Battenkill, but what I find most unique is the Kill's ability to bring people together in pursuit of conservation.
