Peter Basta

Guide Service Outfitter

Peter grew up in the Lake George area of upstate NY.   His family fished and he was introduced to the sport at an early age. Thanks to several adult mentors, Peter was introduced to fly fishing when he was 11.  His first fish to the fly  was on  the BattenKill near Shushan!   Peter has fished this area of Vermont and nearby NY since those early years except while at college in Nova Scotia. He has resided in Dorset since the late 1970's.

Peter is a guide in this area and has been practicing his craft for many years. He has also guided in Michigan and NY for Steelhead but is retired from that part of his guiding. Peter specializes in taking out beginners  as an "On Stream Instruction" course all done stream side. He guides on 5 major watersheds and fishes both stocked and wild trout  and all fished are released.

Residing in Dorset with his wife and stepson, when not guiding, Peter enjoys time around the home with his wife Pauline.  They both love traveling especially to the Ocean.  And yes he fishes quite a bit in his spare time enjoying the small streams that are all close to his home.
